Kirstie Allsopp Defends Comments About 'Fertility Window' Against Vagenda Founder

Kirstie Allsopp caused a recent stir on Monday by telling The Telegraph that young women should find a boyfriend instead of going to university, while advising that having a baby by the age of 27 as fertility declines dramatically once a woman is in her mid-30s.

On Monday evening, the 42-year-old Location, Location, Location presenter debated her position with Holly Baxter, the co-founder of Vagenda Magazine, who unsurprisingly took issue with Allsopp, saying her view was "depressing" and that she would prefer society to change rather than having to ask women to pick between university, career and family.

Allsop shot back, telling Baxter "nature is not a feminist", and that women need to be aware of "the fertility window" should they choose to study or have a career. "The fertility window is a taboo topic," said Allsop to a laid back Paxman.

"What I find," replied Baxter, "is that women are constantly being reminded about their fertility."
