Scout Willis has defended her decision to stage a topless protest against Instagram, insisting she wasn’t attention-seeking.
The 22-year-old daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore took to the streets of New York last week, parading topless and posting the photos on Twitter.

However, Scout’s bold protest drew some criticism and in a piece for xoJane, Scout has refuted claims that she was attempting to make herself the focus of everyone’s attention.
“I understand that people don’t want to take me seriously,” she writes. “Or would rather just write me off as an attention-seeking, over-privileged, ignorant, white girl. I am white and I was born to a high profile and financially privileged family.
Scout also reiterated her claim that Instagram’s policies on female nudity need reviewing.
“What I am arguing for is a woman’s right to choose how she represents her body - and to make that choice based on personal desire and not a fear of how people will react to her or how society will judge her,” Scout continues. “No woman should be made to feel ashamed of her body.”
At present, any photos showing a woman’s nipple are banned from the site, including snaps of people breast-feeding and breast cancer survivors.
Scout’s Instagram account was suspended when she uploaded a photo of a jacket, which featured two of her friends topless on the back.
Under its terms of use, Instagram tells users: 'You may not post violent, nude, partially nude, discriminatory, unlawful, infringing, hateful, pornographic or sexually suggestive photos or other content via the Service.'
