A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash in which a car smashed into a tree.
Leicestershire Police said a man aged 39 died following the accident involving a Ford Focus in Welford Road, Leicester, shortly before 3am today.
A second occupant in the car, a 33-year-old man, was taken to hospital in Nottingham suffering from serious injuries.

A Black BMW car is believed to have been in the area at the time of the collision and police are particularly interested to talk to witnesses who may have seen either car.
