Frances Bean Cobain Slams Lana Del Rey

Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of Nirvana frontman Kurt, has slammed Lana Del Rey for her recent comments on musicians who die young.

Lana discussed the issue of musicians who die young and whether or not it is “glamorous” in a controversial interview with the Guardian, in which she also made the comment: “I wish I was dead already.”

Now, Frances - whose father died at the age of 27 - has hit out Lana on Twitter, criticising her comments.

Writing directly to the singer, Frances posted: “The death of young musicians isn't something to romanticize.

“I'll never know my father because he died young & it becomes a desirable feat because ppl like u think it's "cool"

“Well, it's fucking not. Embrace life, because u only get one life. The ppl u mentioned wasted that life.Don't be 1 of those ppl.”

Frances then posted a final tweet, explaining that she wasn’t “attacking” the singer.

“I'm not attacking anyone. I have no animosity towards Lana, I was just trying to put things in perspective from personal experience,” she wrote.

Lana soon responded to the tweets, suggesting that her comments have been taken out of context.

“It's all good. He was asking me a lot a out your dad I said I liked him because he was talented not because he died young,” she explained. “The other half of what I said wasn't really related to the people he mentioned/ I don't find that part of music glam either.”

In response, the paper published a link to a clip of audio from the interview, which appears to confirm that Lana did tell the paper: “I want to die already.”
