It’s safe to say there could be a whole lot of drama to come on ‘Coronation Street’ in the near future, after the announcement that mouth-on-legs Cilla Battersby-Brown is making a comeback to the cobbles later this year.
Wendi Peters, who played the gobby mum in the soap for four years before quitting in 2007, will return to ‘Corrie’ in October for a brief six-week stint.

The details surrounding the actress’s ‘Corrie’ comeback are being kept closely under wraps - at least for the time being - though ITV have revealed that her storyline will allow actress Jennie McAlpine, who plays Cilla’s daughter Fiz in the soap, to go on maternity leave, having announced her pregnancy earlier this year.
Wendi has expressed her excitement ahead of her return to the soap, explaining: “I'm really thrilled to have the opportunity to revisit Cilla and the cobbles for a short while and to see what she has been up to for the last 7 years.”
Meanwhile the show’s executive producer said: “We can't wait to see Cilla back on the cobbles, she's a truly unforgettable character who is at the heart of Corrie's rich history.”
During her time on ‘Coronation Street’, Cilla was at the centre of a number of big storylines, usually at the expense of her long-suffering son Chesney Brown, played by Sam Aston.
She was also involved in a number of scams, including telling ‘Corrie’ residents she had terminal cancer, which prompted them all to raise money so she could go to Florida and swim with dolphins, only for her to use the trip to Florida as a holiday for herself, without her family.
