A woman rang Greater Manchester Police, using the same number people use to get hold of the emergency services in life and death situations, to complain that door staff at a venue in the city's northern quarter had refused her entry because she was "too ugly".
If police were annoyed by this, they didn't show it. They calmly tweeted about it - in between tweets about arresting three drunks in the space of an hour and officers being sent to deal with a domestic dispute.
Now dealing with woman who rang 999 & says doorstaff at NQ venue wouldn't let her in for being 'too ugly'— GMP City Centre (@GMPCityCentre) June 28, 2014
A police spokesman told the Manchester Evening News that the woman said she would wait for police in an agreed location but when they arrived, she was not there.
The police are not investigating it any further, they said.
