Google Buys Songza. But What Is It?

Google has bought music streaming service Songza.

The company announced the news on its website, saying it was "thrilled" to announce the pairing.

"We can't think of a better company to join in our quest to provide the perfect soundtrack for everything you do," the statement read.

"No immediate changes to Songza are planned, other than making it faster, smarter and even more fun to use."

Songza is described as a music search engine and internet jukebox that creates playlists according to the user's taste.

In a post on the Google Play site the multinational corporation said it will "explore ways to bring what you love about Songza to Google Play Music" over the coming months.

Google credited Songza with building "a great service which uses contextual expert-curated playlists to give you the right music at the right time".
