Woman's Botched DIY Plastic Surgery For Butt Injections Left Her Without Hands And Feet

Don't Do DIY Plastic Surgery, Says Woman Who Lost Her Hands And Feet

Time and again we see horror stories of why you shouldn't do plastic surgery on the cheap, and this woman is the latest to warn us about the dangers.

Apryl Brown had been teased about having a flat bottom since she was a kid, so when in 2004 a client at her hair salon said she she did silicone injections cheaply, Apryl thought the opportunity was too good to miss.

But the botched procedure has left Apryl without her lower arms, lower legs, and the flesh around her posterior. The DIY fillers almost killed her.

According to Jezebel, Apryl allowed the amateur to inject silicone into her buttocks on two occasions before she began to wonder if she had made a bad decision.

"A voice just came to me like, 'What are you doing? Are you serious? You are going to allow somebody to inject something into your body and you have no idea what it is'," she said.

Apryl decided that day to stop having the treatments and never went back, but by then it was already too late.

Following years of pain, Apryl was admitted to hospital in 2010 where it was revealed that what she'd been injected with was bathroom caulk, which caused her flesh to harden and discolor.

She contracted an infection and to save her life, doctors had to amputate Apryl's hands, feet and the flesh around her buttocks and hips in 27 surgeries.

According to WPTV 5, Apryl wants to spread the word about the dangers of DIY cosmetic surgery procedures to people who are considering cutting corners themselves:

"All I would ask them to do is, when you have that first thought, make sure they have a second thought about it and do a little research.

"And if they still want to do it, go for it. They won't be blind sighted, saying, 'Oh, my God, I had no idea that a simple procedure like that can leave me with no hands, no feet and no butt cheeks."

Apryl added that her new life mantra is: "We are enough and we were made to be enough."
