An ‘X Factor’ contestant has been axed from this year’s show after it emerged he’d recently been questioned by police over a rape allegation, according to a report in The Sun.
Auditionees for the singing show are asked from the offset if they have any convictions, have ever been arrested or have any charges pending against them, but the unnamed man failed to mention the police investigation in his application.

After performing for judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Mel B and Louis Walsh - who were unaware of the contestant’s past - he was asked by show bosses to step down from the show, and his audition will now not be shown when the ‘The X Factor’ returns to screens later this year.
The newspaper claims that the man has not been charged with any offence, and went to the police voluntarily. He has denied any wrongdoing.
‘X Factor’ is kicking off its 11th series later this year, with Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole returning to the judging panel after a three-year absence. Louis Walsh - who has judged every series of the show since it debuted in 2004 - will also be taking a seat, while former Spice Girl Mel B was announced as a judge last month, completing the line-up.
This year will mark the first time since 2008 that contestants as young as 14 have been allowed to apply for the show, which Simon is hoping will cast a wider net and get some new talent.
