Sánchez To Complete £35m Arsenal Transfer

Alexis Sánchez will become Arsenal's first signing of the summer when he completes his £35 million transfer from Barcelona.

The 25-year-old Chilean has agreed personal terms could soon be joined at the Emirates Stadium by France right-back Mathieu Debuchy, who is set to complete his move from Newcastle United later this week.

Sánchez scored twice for Chile at the World Cup finals in their win against Australia and last 16 elimination at the hands of Brazil.

He will not be revealed at Arsenal's official Puma kit launch on Carnaby Street this evening, though. Santi Cazorla, Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta will be present for the unveiling and Q&A session.

Liverpool were keen on bringing Sánchez to Anfield as part of Luis Suárez's protracted transfer to Barcelona, however the Chilean was not interested in moving to Merseyside.

His departure should hasten Suárez's switch to Catalonia, where the Uruguayan is expected to don the No.9 shirt Sánchez will soon vacate.

Sánchez joined Barcelona from Udinese in 2011, the same summer Cesc Fàbregas was sold to the then-Champions League winners by Arsenal, however the duo's arrival coincided with the club's decline.

Although he scored 43 goals in 119 appearances, Sánchez was signed by controversial president Sandro Rosell, who resigned last season after an investigation was launched against him for alleged misappropriation of funds over the signing of Neymar.

New president Josep Maria Bartomeu has already hired Luís Enrique to replace former coach Tata Martino and sold Fábregas to Chelsea, while Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitić and goalkeepers Marc-André ter Stegen and Claudio Bravo have arrived.
