Peter Drury, for the uninitiated, gained an unflattering reputation whilst commentating for ITV due to his perceived sycophancy and contrived goal roars. And on Wednesday he dropped a horrendous clanger during Holland and Argentina's World Cup semi-final shootout when he thought Dirk Kuyt had sent the former through to the final.

After the ever reliable Kuyt sent Sergio Romero the wrong way, Drury cried: "THE NETHERLANDS......" only there was no second part since it dawned on him that Kuyt's goal had not ended the contest.

In fact, Kuyt had merely reduced the deficit, since Argentina were 3-2 up. Maxi Rodríguez then stepped up to take the following penalty and send Argentina through to their first final since 1990.
