Cameron Diaz brought a phone interview to a dramatic halt this week, after one of the presenters mentioned her close friend Drew Barrymore’s past battle with substance abuse.
Cameron was being interviewed alongside her ‘Sex Tape’ co-starJason Segel to promote their new new film on KIIS 106.5, when one of the presenters, Kyle Sandilands, mentioned child actor Giselle Eisenburg, who plays the Cameron’s character’s daughter in the film.

Praising her performance, he compared her to Drew’s childhood appearance in ‘E.T.’, before adding: “Let's hope she misses out on the Drew Barrymore drug years, because those were a great thing to watch, but not so good to be in, I'd imagine.”
While his co-host Jackie O tried to turn the situation around, Cameron interjected: “I'm sure, Kyle, you've never been through a drugs phase, have you? Or alcoholism or anything like that? Pretty clean; always did it right? Listen… congratulations.”

They then tried to pose a question to Jason about his recent weight loss, but - clearly having heard enough - Cameron brought things to an uncomfortable close, saying: “We're having to go now. Sorry, they're wrapping us up.”
After hanging up, Kyle’s clearly unimpressed co-host told him he had “ruined” their chat with the stars, saying: “You brought up Drew Barrymore, her best friend's drug addiction in the past…”
The presenter was unapologetic for his remark, though, saying Drew’s turbulent history with drugs was “well-documented”, before suggesting: “Maybe they should've just bought ads if they wanted to sell the movie. I want to find out other things. I’m always blamed for everything.”
After revealing in an interview that she had been intimate with women in the past, Cameron recently had to reiterate that the lucky lady was not her former ‘Charlie’s Angels’ co-star, adding: “[The thought of sex with Drew Barrymore] makes me want to vomit in my mouth. That's like saying I am having sex with my sister. Are you crazy?”
