The father of Juventus footballer Carlos Tevez has been kidnapped in Argentina and held to ransom, according to reports in South America.

The incident is thought to have happened on Tuesday in Moron, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, La Nacion claimed. The newspaper added that the kidnappers had made two ransom demands for Juan Alberto Cabral, with the second a much higher figure than the original, possibly because they did not at first realise who they had taken.

Tevez, who spent seven years in England including spells at Manchester City and Manchester United, is believed to be travelling to Argentina to deal with the situation.
