Paul Scholes: Manchester United Hasn't Spoken To Louis Van Gaal (Video)

Will Scholes Return To United Despite Punditry Role? (Video)

Paul Scholes has admitted punditry commitments next season have all but ended the chance of him joining Louis van Gaal's coaching staff at Manchester United.

Scholes signed deals with BT Sport and ITV Sport to analyse their Premier League and Champions League coverage next season and beyond.

The 39-year-old returned to United in April after Ryan Giggs was appointed caretaker manager for the Reds' final four matches, alongside former teammates Nicky Butt and Phil Neville.

Van Gaal appointed Giggs as his assistant manager and Butt has retained his coaching role at the club, however Scholes and Neville, who returned to United as part of David Moyes' ill-fated set-up, have not been allocated new roles under Van Gaal.

"I've not spoken to the new manager and there's no need for him to speak to me, really," Scholes said. "I only went out there to help Ryan for three weeks at the end of the season. I wasn't on a contract or anything, I didn't have a job with the club and it's no different now."
