Luis Suárez's Barcelona contract does not include a biting clause even though he has bitten Otman Bakkal, Branislav Ivanović and Giorgio Chiellini.
Chiellini became Suárez's third victim in June during Uruguay's World Cup clash with Italy and the former Liverpool striker was punished with a four month worldwide ban from all football activity.
Barcelona had planned to table an offer for Suárez before the finals and the 27-year-old joined the Catalan club for £75 million last month.

And Barça president Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed the club were not dissuaded by the controversial striker's latest transgression.
He told CNN: "We didn't rethink this decision and we told Luis after the bite. He knows he did wrong.
"He apologised. That's very important for us. That means he knows that he did not do things properly - and of course, coming to our city, coming to our club, there's going to be a way of managing Luis Suarez, because at Liverpool he was a perfect player."
Bartomeu refused to specify what action Barcelona would take against Suárez if he bit another opponent. He sunk his teeth into Bakkal whilst playing for Ajax in 2010 and bit Ivanović at Anfield last year before gnawing Chiellini's shoulder.
"This is a question that a lot of people now ask us," Bartomeu added. "We cannot talk about something that could happen or not. We don't know. What we know is that we accept this responsibility and he also wants this responsibility.
"There is no clause. If the clause did exist we wouldn't say it, but it doesn't exist."
