Ravel Morrison, the West Ham United midfielder, has been charged with threatening to throw acid in his ex-girlfriend's face, "have her killed" and blow up her house, a court heard today.

The 21-year old appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with two counts of common assault relating to his former partner Reah Mansoor, 19, and her 39-year-old mother Parveen Mansoor.

The Manchester Evening News report the case was sent to Manchester Crown Court and Morrison will appear there on 28 August.

An additional charge of harassment in relation to Reah Mansoor was added to the indictment.

Morrison appeared in the dock wearing jeans, trainers and a buttoned shirt and spoke only to give his name, age and address of Western Gateway, Canary Wharf, London.

David Fish QC, representing the former Manchester United youth teamer, indicated Morrison would be pleading not guilty to all three charges.

Morrison moved to West Ham from United for £500,000 in January 2012 and has spent spells on loan at Birmingham City and Queens Park Rangers.

He was a member of United's much-heralded 2011 Youth Cup-winning side, which included Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba.
