American Apparel Mannequins Now Have Pubic Hair - Good Idea Or Tad Too Realistic?

American Apparel is a fashion brand that likes to shock, but mannequins with pubic hair? Now that's a new one.

The Huffington Post took these pictures of the East Houston Street store in New York and yep, you can see everything through this sheer underwear.

A sales assistant told the Huffington Post that the mannequins are meant to convey the "rawness and realness of sexuality. They've been put on display in the lead up to Valentine's Day. How romantic.

That's all very well, but will this statement-making window actually encourage customers to shop the brand's underwear?

It has definitely put the spotlight on this New York store and it challenges society's attitude towards pubic hair, but is this "realness" just too er, real? It's a natural thing, but shoppers don't need to be reminded of it when they're just popping in to buy a pair of disco pants.

It's not the first time American Apparel has made a controversial move, so perhaps people will just see this for what it us - a publicity stunt.
