Off the tennis court, Wimbledon champion Andy Murray rarely shows any emotion, so you wouldn't expect him to go over-the-top when talking about his feelings for long-term girlfriend Kim Sears.

But in his usual understated way, the 26-year-old Wimbledon champion has revealed how he would like to start a family and hopes to be a good father.

Andy told how girlfriend Kim, 25, understands him better than anyone else and how he plans to have children.

The couple, who have been together for eight years, met through Kim's father Nigel when he was coaching tennis player Daniela Hantuchová on the WTA Tour.

He said: "Kim was there in 2006 in San José when I won my first event which felt really important. You're in these huge cities meeting new people all the time and it'd be easy to get your head turned. But Kim's always been there for me. She really cares about me and helps with so many things."

In an extract from his new book, Andy Murray: Seventy-Seven: My Road to Wimbledon Glory, released this week, he said: "When I'm done playing, yes, I would like to start a family and try to be a good father. That's important to me."

That's a love match, then!
