Beauty Trends 2014: Orange Lipstick (It's Easier To Wear Than You Think)

When it comes to makeup colours this spring, there's one trend to make note of - it's all about orange.

Tangerine, coral, amber, the shade doesn't matter. It's time to embrace the totally loud tone. The easiest way to do this? With lipstick.

The Spring/Summer season wouldn't be the same without the bolder, brighter lip colours and this year is no different. DSquared, DKNY, Rag & Bone and Prabal Gurung were just a few of the designers to spark a craze for orange on the catwalk.

Yes, of course Joan Smalls looked incredible in the lip colour at the DKNY show, but it's not the kind of trend that's just for supermodels.

If you're going to try swapping your regular red or fuchsia shade, match the shade to your skin tone. Rich, burnt orange hues suit darker skins while girls with paler skin should stick to softer orange colours with peachy undertones.

Then there's the issue of balance. There's no need for OTT eye makeup when your lips are already making a statement. In fact, eyeshadow, liner and mascara should be kept to a minimum.

Last but not least, don't go glossy. Matte finishes will look all the more effortless with this colour. Need proof? Here's Scarlett Johansson...
