If someone had told you a few years back that Simon Cowell would one day be nominated as Celebrity Dad of the Year, you'd have been forgiven for laughing out loud.
But the nominations have been announced today, and the X Factor mogul and dad to three-month-old Eric seems to be the firm favourite. And that's despite his famous declaration that he would never change a dirty nappy!
In fairness, though, since the arrival of baby Eric on Valentine's Day this year, Simon does appear to be a changed man. He's been caught gushing to all and sundry about the joys of parenthood, and takes obvious delight in sharing pictures of his son .
We knew he was a big softie really!
Simon will be up against last year's winner, Olympic god and dad-of-two Mo Farah, as well as TV presenter Ben Fogle, and McBusted frontman Tom Fletcher, who welcomed baby Buzz in March and has been overwhelming the internet with cute pics and videos of the nipper ever since.
In a surprise twist, however, Peter Andre failed to make the cut despite taking the title in a public vote for four consecutive years from 2008 to 2011. Even with the birth of new baby Amelia in January, he missed out on a nomination for the first time in eight years.
David Beckham also failed to make the cut, as did Prince William - although we're guessing neither would attend the photo call if they won...
The Celebrity Mum of the Year award was won by Michelle Heaton back in March, just weeks after she gave birth to her second child, son Aaron Jay.
The awards are sponsored by comic industry giant Marvel, which is asking the public to vote for their 'superhero' celebrity dad. Voting will be open until June 4, with the winner to be announced in time for Father's Day.
