Cheap Make Up: Eyeliner For Under £10

Eyeliner is a make up wonder tool for a reason. It works. With very little effort, eyeliner can make a mega impact, defining, highlight and visibly opening eyes. If only other beauty fixes were this simple!

It's no surprise that there's a huge amount of choice out there, from liquid and gel liners, to the trusty pencil.

For a simple Kate Moss-style feline flick always keep a dark eyeliner pencil handy. A sharp, firm pencil makes a fine line; a soft Kohl pencil creates a thick line that's easy to smudge and blend, making it perfect for smoky eye looks.

Liquid liners are perfect for creating a vintage look. Think of 1960s Biba eyes and the blocks of smoky eyes and big lashes. Liquid liners are trickier to apply and need a bit of practice but once mastered they define eyes with precision. Just keep your eye makeup remover and earbuds handy to wipe away any wobbles.

The winged eye is a timeless look that will never fall out of fashion. Winged eyes can be drawn with a pencil, but for more precision and longer staying power, pick a gel or cream eyeliner. You'll need an eyeliner brush, but this gives more scope to draw a precise line or build up an intense flick.

While dark browns, blues and black eyeliner are the most popular choices, bright colours can have a dazzling effect. Try electric blue with brown eyes, plums to show off green eyes and rich browns and taupes with blue eyes. A top tip for widening eyes is to apply a line of white eyeliner to the inside of your eye. This instantly opens and brightens eyes.
