Children Drowned In Pool As Mum Slept In House Where Cannabis Was Grown

Two children drowned in a swimming pool while their mum was asleep in a house where cannabis was being grown, it is claimed.

The children, Jason Bradford, two, and his 16-month-old sister, Harley, were found floating in the pool of a rental home in La Mesa, California.

Now authorities are considering whether to prosecute the mother, 26-year-old Tassie Anne Behrens, who found her children's bodies in the pool of a friend's home, where the family had been staying.

She and a male friend rushed the children to hospital, but they couldn't be saved.

UTSanDiego.com reported that Ms Behrens had been struggling to cope with her kids after breaking her ankle.

She wrote on her Facebook page: "This is so crazy chasing after 2 babies when I cannot even walk on my own. At least I can take cast on and off.If anyone feels like helping me by giving me a break from chasing kids around feel free to message me.lol"

Larry Dangelo, 44, who lives at the house along with another man, was later arrested on suspicion of running a marijuana-growing operation out of the basement at the house.

At least 60 marijuana plants and drug-making equipment were seized by members of the regional Narcotics Task Force.

Dangelo is being held on $50,000 after being charged with multiple counts, including possession of pot for sale.
