Oooh! Ow! Ouch! Watch this young girl give a masterclass in how NOT to dive from a high diving board – yet miraculously she escaped with just a sore little finger!

The grimace-inducing footage shows the timid girl preparing to leap from the 22ft-high platform – and then getting it spectacularly wrong.

First she slips from the second highest platform, then tries to grab onto the board with her fingers.

When that doesn't work she hits the board 6ft below - stomach first - before somersaulting and landing in the swimming pool.

A horrified onlooker filming the whole incident, but remarkably the girl escaped with nothing more than an injured little finger.

Story continues after video.

The incident happened at the Lava Hot Springs water park in Idaho, U.S. The diving tower the girl fell from has three platforms, with 32ft being the highest.

Anyone who wants to use it has to sign a disclaimer form to say they recognise the risks and that the park isn't responsible if it all goes horribly wrong.

The video of the tumble was posted on YouTube on July 13 and has so far been seen more than 300,000 times.
