Drunk mum abandoned babies in car after crash

A mother-of-four allegedy abandoned her two babies in her car after she crashed while drunk.

Jamie Lynn Wilkinson, 34, has been charged with child endangerment following the crash on Saturday evening.

She has also been charged with driving under the influence.

According to police in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, US, Wilkinson collided with several parked cars.

They said she then ran away, leaving the two babies – aged 18 months and six months - alone in the damaged vehicle.

She was arrested two streets away from the accident scene.

Witnesses said neighbours grabbed the children and cared for them until police arrived.

Both babies were taken to police headquarters, where they had to have their nappies changed because they were soaked with urine, according to police records.

Wilkinson now awaits a preliminary hearing, which has been scheduled for later this month.
