Heartburn In Pregnancy

Most of us have experienced indigestion or heartburn at one time or another, perhaps after overdoing it a bit with a particularly rich meal. But during pregnancy it's not necessarily caused by over-indulgence and it can be a real drag. Thankfully, it's usually easily controlled.

What is it?

Indigestion, or heartburn – medically known as dyspepsia – is a horrid burning sensation in your upper abdomen, most often caused by acid reflux. As it heads north, the acid from your stomach irritates the tender lining of your oesophagus. Sufferers can also experience regurgitation of food, nausea and bloating.
