Lea Michele was having a girls' night in when she discovered boyfriend Cory Monteith's death. The Glee star started "freaking out" after she received the devastating phone call while taking some downtime with close pals at home.
"Lea was distraught," a source told People magazine. "No one knew what to say, it was horrible. She couldn't believe it." The 26-year-old has just got back from Mexico with Cory and was in a "great mood" according to friends.
"She needed to get out of her house," the insider added. "It was extremely emotional. So she left and stayed in the home of her friend."
The young actress is said to have been super protective of her boyfriend and apparently took responsibility for the funeral to help Cory's grieving mother, according to TMZ.
It was no secret Cory struggled with addiction and it is alleged that Lea organised the intervention staged by her fellow Glee stars and crew to encourage Cory to check into rehab earlier this year.
