London Fashion Week: Mary Katrantzou Autumn/Winter 2014

"The inspiration for the collection can be found everywhere," read the show notes for Mary Katrantzou's Autumn/Winter 2014 show.

What did this mean? Katrantzou's collection was focused on symbolism. And what were these symbols influenced by? Uniforms.

Prints and appliques of emblems and crests embellished this season's super sleek silhouettes - from pleated maxi dresses to metallic suits.

These designs looked more luxurious than ever, but the symbols were inspired by the wardrobes of everyone from boy scouts and bakers to bankers and builders. (Spot the teddy bears and male/female symbols on the gown above.)
