Mango - not just a yummy fruit delicious eaten on its own, in salad or as part of a sweet, but seriously good for your health. And, from March to May every year it's Alphonso season - AKA the time the best tasting mangoes are harvested.
2. They improve digestion. Like papaya, mango contains enzymes that break down protein and thus help your body to process food. If you have digestion problems, a mango now and again could make a big difference and ease discomfort.
3. They can increase your sex drive. Yes, really! Mangoes are rich in vitamin E which according to studies can boost your libido. As well as this, they're rich in natural sugar but a low GI fruit, so if you need a sweet fix they won't send your blood sugar levels soaring.
4. They're great for your complexion. Want glowing skin? Eating mango is a fantastic start. The fruit is rich in anti-ageing anti-oxidants, rejuvenating vitamin A and can be rubbed directly onto the skin as a natural moisturiser. If you'd rather stick to your regular beauty regime, just pop some in your fruit salad or porridge.
5. They're a great addition to any healthy eating plan. According to a study conducted by researchers in Australia in 2012, the fruit can help you stay slim - if you eat the skin as well as the fruit. They found it appeared to "inhibit the development of human fat cells". We wouldn't recommend it as a quick fix, but definitely a fruit to add to your diet.
