A boy of three who went missing from his Wrexham home yesterday was later found in a garden pond.

The alarm was raised when the toddler disappeared from his home in Froncysllte, Wrexham, at around 11.55am.

Police say he was found 'a short time later' in a garden pond, but he died despite efforts from medics at Wrexham hospital.

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: "At approximately 11.55am this morning, North Wales Police responded to the report of a three-year-old boy missing from an address in Froncysllte near Llangollen.

"Officers attended the address and a short time later the child was found close by in a garden pond. He was conveyed immediately by ambulance in Wrexham where despite the efforts of medical staff he sadly passed away. HM Coroner will be informed."
