For Candice and Adam, the semi-derelict Caroline Gardens Chapel in Peckham where they held their May 2014 wedding ceremony provided more than just an atmospheric backdrop for their nuptials.Peling blue paint was the basis for their shades-of-blue colour scheme, while the fading grandeur of the backdrop was perfect for conveying the traditional-meets-informal feel the couple was after.
The bride also saved on costs - and got the wedding dress of her dreams - after she scored a secondhand Allure Bridals strapless wedding dress on Gumtree, which she took to Jane Ecob at A Perfect Fit for tailoring. "She changed the dress from a zip-up back to a lace-up bodice, along with taking it up by about a foot as I am only five-feet tall," Candice explains.
