Beaming with pride, actress Tina Malone, 50, has introduced her three-week-old daughter Flame to the world – with a starring role on ITV's This Morning.

Accompanied by her husband Paul Chase, 31, Tina chatted to hosts Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley about becoming a new mum.

Tina said: "I feel privileged and charmed and so lucky to have her. She's so content, she's not a crier – yet."

The baby girl was as good as gold as she nestled in her mum's arms, dressed in a spotted pink onesie.

The former Shameless and Brookside actress became pregnant after having IVF treatment and said she felt proud to be a role model for older mums.

She said: "I'm not saying you should run out at 50 and get pregnant, but we should encourage debate on older women who are now more successful in the workplace, more educated, can make better choices with men and relationships.

"Why shouldn't you have the opportunities in your 40s to go for IVF, either with your own eggs or egg donation?"

She added: "I'm not saying it's for everyone at 50 to run out and get pregnant, but I have proved my critics wrong... I'm healthy and happy."

Tina gave birth to Flame two weeks ahead of her New Year's Eve due date, and later tweeted: "Proud to announce the arrival of our BABY GIRL,cant wait to spend xmas as a family.xxxx."

Tina married personal trainer Paul, who is 19 years her junior, back in 2010.
