Newborn Baby Boy Dies In Motorway Crash

A newborn baby boy has died after his family were involved in a car crash on the M6 motorway in Staffordshire.

The 11-day-old baby had been taken by air ambulance to Birmingham Children's Hospital after the accident, but later passed away.

His mum, four-year-old sister and 18-month-old brother were left with injuries following the smash, which happened as they travelled in their Seat Leon near Cannock. They were later discharged from hospital.

The family's car had collided with a silver Mercedes C-class on the southbound carriageway of the motorway at around 4.30 on Sunday afternoon.

The BBC reports that a 30-year-old man from Solihull has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and released on bail. The police are appealing for witnesses.
