Paris Fashion Week: Chanel Autumn/Winter 2014

The penultimateday of Paris Fashion Week was ALL about Karl Lagerfeld's Autumn/Winter 2014 collection for Chanel. The runway scene? Think Supermarket Sweep style (oh yes!), think classic cocoon tweeds and a palette of punchy pink, purple, orange and yellow. Fresh as you like.

The vibe was urban-street-cool with a contemporary take on signature Chanel; the flecked, tailored tweeds, the oversized sunglasses, the pearls, the boxy chain handbags.

There was a standout sporty edge, and these Chanel girls mix in it all. They wear metallic, they bare their midriff, they're all about the crazy-colourway kicks and fingerless gloves.

Cara Delevingne, THE sportswear poster girl, led the model pack (including Joan Smalls and Sam Rollinson) down the catwalk to the sounds of Rihanna.

Layers were luxe, flashes of flouro were everywhere, and said fashion trainers (a bright update from the couture styles of the SS14 runway) were worn by all. There was also something for the more mature, more at ease in her boucle jacket woman. Beautiful matching two-pieces, double-breasted outerwear, neckerchiefs, velvet and leather.

Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel brings all the girls to the store.

Needs must, this A/W line up definitely falls under the essentials category. It's Parisian chic on a whole new level and you'd wear it at every possible occasion...
