Skinny Girls Are Real Too! Model Teenager Makes A Stand For Girls Without Curves

A 15-year-old girl from Northampton has gone through to the finals of a top modelling contest – and says she is doing it to show that 'naturally skinny' girls are real too!

Bronte Huskinson beat off competition from 4,000 other girls to reach the final 30 in the Top Model UK competition.

The teenager said she was 'so excited' and was going to make the most of the 'huge opportunity'.

Explaining her reasons for entering the contest, Bronte said she had become fed up with the all the body image messages young girls get bombarded with - particularly that skinny is 'not real'.

"It seems that all the information aimed at young girls gives out the message that to be real you must have curves," Bronte told her local paper.

"But what about girls that are naturally skinny - are we not real too? I wanted to do this to show that I am proud of the way I look and we should all love our bodies, curves or not."

Bronte's mum Sarah Newton said her daughter had had a 'hard time' because of her figure.

"I think we have it so wrong when we talk to young girls about body image," she said. "We assume that it is only girls with curves who suffer but Bronte has a hard time too and it is about time we learnt that skinny girls have feelings too. I am so proud of her."

Bronte will find out if she has won the contest during a grand final catwalk show in April.
