Thief Strangled Baby In Stolen Car To Stop Him Crying

An unbelievably evil car thief strangled a baby to death after finding him in the luxury motor he stole - because the child wouldn't stop crying.

Zhou Xijun, 48, is facing the death penalty after telling police he killed the two-month-old because he was worried the baby's crying would give him away.

Xijun had stolen the 4x4 in Jilin province, northern China after baby Xu Haobo's dad Xu Ling, 34, had left the car engine running to warm up.

The baby was strapped inside when opportunist Xijun driove it away.

The thief told police: "I stopped the car, strangled the baby and buried his body in the snow."

The disappearance sparked a flurry of media interest, with the horrified dad making a series of emotional TV appeals asking for baby Xu's safe return.
