A young mum was found stabbed to death at her home just weeks after moving in with her baby daughter.

Victoria Adams, 22, died in hospital after police and paramedics were called to her semi-detached home in Oldham, Greater Manchester, on Sunday morning.

A 29-year-old man was last night being quizzed on suspicion of murder.

Victoria, known to friends as Vicky, was found with stab wounds to her chest. She was taken to hospital but suffered a cardiac arrest and died.

She is believed to have moved into the rented property about a month ago with her daughter, thought to be about four months old, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Neighbours described blonde Vicky as chatty and friendly. Deborah Garratt, 50, said: "Vicky had only moved in a few weeks ago but she seemed a lovely girl.

"She and her family had been working very hard to get the house nice for her and the baby. They all seemed very nice."

Another neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: "I used to see Vicky in the street with her baby in the pram. I am so sorry she has died, it's a terrible shock."

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: " A 29-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in custody for questioning."
