Corinthians Midfielder Petros Banned Six Months For Shoving Referee (Video)

Corinthians Midfielder Does A Di Canio, Gets A Six-Month Ban

Corinthians midfielder Petros' Paolo di Canio tribute has not gone down well in Brazil after he was suspended for six months for shoving a referee.

Petros barged into official Rapahel Claus, causing him to stumble, during Corinthians' 1-0 win over Santos on 10 August.

It looked fairly innocuous, though, and the referee even admitted he didn't think Petros clattered into him, but Globo report Brazil's sports tribunal have taken a dim view of the incident and decided it was deliberate.

Former Sheffield Wednesday forward Di Canio was suspended for 11 matches by the Premier League in 1998 after his hilarious reaction to Paul Alcock's decision to send him off against Arsenal.
