Kebabs - Not Just A Post-Boozing Snack, But The Saviour Of House Fires And Preventer Of Violence

Putting Out Fires, Stopping Fights...Why Kebabs Are Literally The Superman Of The Food World

When your vision is blurry and you're struggling to remember your own name, there's only one thing that can save the day... a kebab.

And thanks to one determined lawyer, if you're having a night out in Dundee you can now order some meaty goodness into the early hours of the morning.

According to the Daily Record, Solicitor Janet Hood has successfully campaigned to give kebab shop Khans in Broughty Ferry extended opening hours. The shop will now stay open until 2am on weekdays and 2.30am on weekends.

And how has this kebab-loving lawyer convinced the local authorities to permit the change? By convincing them that the humble fast food can do far more than sober you up.

Hood has a theory that a classic doner can prevent domestic abuse and even fires.

She told Dundee’s licensing committee: “Medical evidence strongly suggests that eating after drinking helps induce sleep, which could help lower alcohol-related domestic violence.

“Many residential fires are also caused by people who go home after drinking and fancy fried eggs, for instance, but forget they’ve started cooking.”

SNP councillor Jimmy Black replied: “I had no idea a kebab could solve so many problems.”
