Murdered Suffolk Teacher Turned US TV Host Scott Rogers 'Abused Young Boys'

Abuse Claims Emerge About TV Host Killed By Son-In-Law And Suspected Lover

Two men have come forward to claim they were abused by a British TV host who was murdered in Louisiana last week.

Local police said that it appeared that the man, named in US reports as Mathew Hodgkinson - had killed Around Town talkshow host Mr Rogers before turning the gun on himself in a failed suicide attempt.

Since his death, the two British men have appeared anonymously on radio in Louisiana to claim they were abused by Mr Rogers when they were young boys.

Scott Rogers was shot dead by his son-in-law, who then tried to kill himself, police believe

Iberville Sheriff Brett Stassi said his officers were aware of the allegations.

"As the noose started tightening the layers of the onion started peeling away, exposing him to what happened in the UK - it brought to light more to this man," said Mr Stassi, according to the BBC.

"You've got to understand this man, over here, people had given him badges and awards, he worked as a chaplain for a sheriff's department, he was the 'in crowd' type guy.

"I've said before he was hiding in plain view - he wasn't behind the camera he was in front of it."

He also said Mr Rogers' may have used a false name to apply to become a foster parent and two children were removed from his home around two weeks before the shooting.

Speaking last week, Mr Stassi said Mr Hodgkinson only survived the suicide attempt because of the angle the gun.

He said: "This looks to be a murder and attempted suicide.

"Rogers was found with a single gun shot wound to the head and Mathew was on the floor with a gun shot wound to the head.

"He was still alive but only because of the angle of the gun when it was shot, otherwise it would have gone straight through his brain and he would probably be dead."

Mr Hodgkinson is in a critical condition and being kept in a medically induced coma in hospital.

A note reportedly left at the scene by Mr Hodgkinson said: "They broke our happy home. They do not get to take Scott too."

Despite Mr Hodgkinson being married to Mr Rogers' biological daughter, Kimmy, the alleged suspect lived at the victim's home with him.

Mr Rogers ran the Academy of Dancing and Performing Arts in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk until it closed in the mid 1990s.

There were concerns it had an "unhealthy atmosphere" of a "religious, or supposedly religious, cult", local paper The East Anglian Daily Times reported.
