Buy A Space Suit For Your Dog

With Christmas now looming in the distance maybe it's about time you treated your favourite canine to something a little different?

Forgo the pleated gilet and instead, why not opt for a genuine 1950 Soviet space suit for dogs?

The prototype suit was developed by the Soviet Union during the early days of the space race and was designed to test the effects of low gravity and high-speed launches on living organisms.

Named 'T-1' it was created for the Sputnik 5 mission and while it never made it into space it was believed to have been used as a test suit for the canines that did eventually make it into orbit.

Fully laced, this relic from a long-past age also comes with an attached oxygen tube which would have then connected to the space ships's internal air supply.

So how much is a canine space suit? Well it's up for auction on the 13 September in Berlin and is expected to reach at least £6,500 in bids.
