Deadline Day: How It Unfolded On Twitter

How Deadline Day Unfolded On Twitter

There were more than 4.2 million Tweets sent throughout #DeadlineDay, as Twitter erupted into life with speculation, debate and confirmation.

MOST-DISCUSSED PLAYERS

Radamel Falcao’s dramatic deal to @ManUtd dominated conversation, with more than 1.5 million Tweets related to Falcao during the 24 hr period. The most talked about players on Twitter from midnight to midnight were:

1. Radamel Falcao (@Falcao), 2. Danny Welbeck, 3. Javier Hernandez (@CH14_), 4. Daley Blind (@BlindDaley), 5. Tom Cleverley

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the most-discussed individual off the pitch on #DeadlineDay was Arsene Wenger. In fact, it was only the deals including Falcao, Welbeck and Hernandez that generated more Twitter conversation on the day than Wenger.

MOST-DISCUSSED MOMENTS

The biggest peak in Twitter conversation during the 24-hour period came at 22:58 GMT, with more than 21K Tweets per minute (TPM). The spike can most likely be attributed to the anticipation of the deadline passing just minutes later at 23:00.

The second most-tweeted moment of #DeadlineDay came at 20:31 GMT with more than 11K TPM, moments after Daley Blind’s transfer to Manchester United was confirmed.
