"Up in the mountains are colours that you don't even know or see until you go up there," Nepalese-born Gurung told reporters after the show. "It's this beautiful amethyst to this coral, ivory, white and then teal and turquoise, and this opal. It's a visual feast. I wanted to bring it here."

Gurung's global nomad had plenty to choose from for her journey: asymmetrically draped jumpers, cropped silk jackets, zip-embellished trousers, landscape-print dresses, cascading-ruffle frocks, feather-embellished tops and his sporty-luxe racerback tanks worn over strapless gowns (a sophisticated and unexpected red carpet choice).

Also on offer this season? Gurung's first footwear collection, which featured strong graphic lines in ankle boots with harness detailing, strappy stilettos and two-tone sandals inspired by his favourite artists like Georgia O'Keeffe and Cindy Sherman.
