The Moment A Driver Runs Over An 11-Year-Old And Just Drives Off

This CCTV shows the moment a driver hit an 11-year-old boy and simply drove off, leaving him slumped in the road.

The driver did not even appear to check what had happened to the boy and showed "a worrying level of apathy" about the boy's injuries, police said.

Remarkably, the boy suffered only minor injuries and only missed one day of school - but police said he could have died.

The driver showed 'a worrying level of apathy' about the boy, police said

It took place shortly after 7.15pm on September 2 on Victoria Street, Ashton-under-Lyne.

Greater Manchester Police issued this CCTV to track down the culprit.

The car was a turquoise Honda Civic, believed to have been made between 1991 and 1996.

PC Adrian Spurrell said: “The CCTV is crystal clear: the driver collided with a young boy then callously drove off, leaving him slumped in the road.

“Remarkably he only missed one day of school after suffering minor injuries but clearly the injuries could have been far worse or even fatal.

“To leave a young boy shocked and injured in the road, when you have no idea how seriously injured he may or may not be, shows a worrying level of apathy and regard for his welfare and I need the public’s help to identify the driver."
