David and Victoria Beckham shocked parents when they turned up on the touchline to watch their kids play football on Sunday.

Mums and dads did a double-take as Britain's most famous couple returned from New York fashion week to family life at Hogwood Park training ground in Berkshire.

The Beckhams were at the park to watch two of their sons, Romeo and Cruz, play for two of Arsenal's youth teams against Reading FC's own academy.

But it wasn't only the parents who were star-struck – many of Championship club Reading's players were at the ground and rumours quickly spread that the legendary footballer might be coming out of retirement to join the club.

Midfielder Hope Akpan tweeted: "David Beckham in the building, obviously excited to see me. Worldy."

Centre back Michael Hector posted a photo of himself with Becks, saying: "Me and Sir David Beckham... (I was the) only player he touched! The guy is too fresh."

There's no chance of David pulling on his boots, though - the 39-year-old has said many times how happy he is to be a house dad and taxi driver to his four kids.

But it might not be too long before we see his sons on Match of the Day as Romeo, 12, and Cruz, nine, are following in the footsteps of big brother Brooklyn, who also trained at Arsenal's youth academy.
