Go To The Space Station For $50m

Boeing has announced that its Crew Space Transport will have room for a space tourist who'll be able to visit the International Space Station for the sum of $50m.

The deal is part of Boeing's contract with NASA to build a viable reusable transport ship which can shuttle humans from Earth up to the Space Station and back again.

Since the decommissioning of the Space Shuttle there hasn't been a long-term solution however the increased interest by the private sector has helped NASA cut down on costs.

The concept of space tourism is nothing new with British Soprano Sarah Brightman set to become the second space tourist courtesy of Space Adventures and the eighth space tourist to visit the ISS.

Brightman, who is traveling with the company Space Adventures will be traveling in the Russian Soyuz spacecraft however Boeing will now be offering its own spare seat up to the tourism company.

Boeing's $5.2bn contract will start making real progress when test flights of the CST begin in 2017.

Elon Musk's company SpaceX has also won the other half of the contract but has promised that it'll be able to fulfill the flight requirements for just $2.6bn instead.
