Cirque Du Soleil has teamed up with the Flying Machine Arena at ETH Zurich to create a magical new video called 'Sparked'.
The company took 10 quadcopters and dressed them up as lampshades, they then combined them with a human actor to create the video which bares all the hallmarks of a classic CIrque du Soleil performance.
The video, set in an old workshop, was actually shot in the Flying Machine Arena which is described by the university as 'a portable space devoted to autonomous flight that consists of flying machines, a high-precision motion capture system, a wireless communication network, and custom software executing sophisticated algorithms for estimation and control.'
In order to make the entire routine seem natural the teams at ETH Zurich had to come up with a choreography for the quadcopters that made them seem to be interacting with the dancers every move.
