Coronation Street's Kevin Webster Won't Be Seen Drinking In the Rovers Following Actor Michael Le Vell's Booze Battle

What Did Eagle-Eyed 'Corrie' Viewers Notice About Kevin Webster?

'Coronation Street' star Michael Le Vell won't be seen drinking alcohol on screen following his battle with the booze.

Bosses at the ITV soap have ruled that his character, Kevin Webster, will not be seen touching a drop of alcohol in scenes filmed in the Rovers Return.

Eagle-eyed viewers noticed that whenever mechanic Kevin lifted a pint to have a swig on Monday's 'Corrie', the camera would cut to another scene.

A source at the soap confirmed that it is intentional, following Michael leVell's stint in rehab earlier this year, where he spent three and a half weeks to deal with alcohol-related issues.

“It will be very hard to maintain but definitely not impossible. Anything that helps Michael is worth it.”

Despite the beer served in the Rovers only being weak shandy, bosses are keen to ensure Michael doesn't fall off the wagon.

“A few eagle-eyed fans spotted the new routine. But to millions of others they probably didn’t see anything different.”

'Corrie' bosses are understood to have paid £350 a week for the 49-year-old's treatment after he admitted to taking cocaine and drinking heavily following his trial for child sex offences last year, which he was cleared of.

A source told the Sunday Mirror at the time: “Michael has taken himself away from all temptation and is sorting himself out."
