New Actor To Play Martin Fowler In 'EastEnders'

‘EastEnders’ bosses have made the decision to recast Martin Fowler, ahead of his arrival back in Albert Square.

The role of Pauline’s son was most recently played by James Alexandrou, however now, James Bye will take on the role.

While Sonia has been back in Walford for a while, her hubby is yet to be seen and James has shared his excitement ahead of making his grand entrance, when Martin arrives, hoping to reconnect with Sonia.

"It's a huge opportunity for me to put my own stamp on an iconic character and I can't wait to get started," he stated.

The recasting has taken place with James Alexandrou’s agreement and ‘EastEnders’ Executive Producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins has applauded his Casting Executive’s decision.

“With James Alexandrou's blessing - something which was very important to us - we have recast everyman Martin Fowler after extensive auditions,” he said. "Martin is an ‘EastEnders’ original - the first baby born on the Square and part of the show's roots - and, as we celebrate 30 years on Albert Square, it's important to look backwards as we move forwards.”

While the soap’s 30th anniversary is still months away, preparations have already begun.

In February 2015, the cast and crew will commemorate the milestone with a live episode, during which Lucy Beale’s murderer will be revealed.

The Carter family are also set to take centre stage, as the rape storyline between Linda and Dean continues to develop.
