Looking for face painting inspiration for Halloween, a child's birthday party or a school fete?

This little devil design is delightfully easy to do. It requires just four colours and can be completed in three quick steps. Finish the look with a red hoodie and trousers and your little devil is ready to go trick or treating.

For an added extra, make a devil's tail by cutting one leg off a pair of red tights. Fill the leg with cotton wool or scrunched up newspaper. Sellotape a triangular piece of red card to the foot end and the safety pin the other end to the bottom of your child's top - and voila, you have a devil's tail!

Top tip: Put your non-painting hand on the child's head. It really helps the child to sit still while you work, and it allows you to balance yourself so you have a steady hand.

Step one

Using a red face painting stick, draw an exaggerated eyebrow shape over the eyes.

Step two

Using a white face paint stick draw a horn from the top of each eyebrow. Position the horns so they are above the outer corners of the child's eyes.

Then use a black face painting stick to carefully outline each horn and paint the lips black.

Step three

Using a red face painting stick draw flame lines on the forehead - between the two exaggerated eyebrows - and on the cheeks to complete the devilish look.
