Dyson's New Humidifier That Kills Germs With UV Light

Dyson's New Invention Kills Germs With UV Light

Dyson has unveiled its latest invention, a humidifier that uses UV light to kill the germs in the water before it then enters the room.

To combat this they expose the water reservoir to UV light, effectively killing 99.9 per cent of bacteria before it then enters the room.

The Dyson Humidifier then uses a tiny ultrasonic transducer which then breaks down the water into tiny water droplets before it's then pushed out into the room through Dyson's bladeless air multiplier fan.

It's completely automated using a bank of sensors to constantly measure the room temperature and humidity levels and it'll run for 18 hours on just a single tank of water.

Humidifiers are used to help treat dry skin, combat itchiness and generally improve the quality of the air in the room.

While they do perform the task of filling the air with water they -- according to Dyson -- do nothing to combat the quality of the water that is being pumped into the room.

Dyson reports that this water is actually more dangerous to breathe than drink, essentially making the humidifier a perfect delivery system for harmful bacteria.

The company's latest invention is launching in Tokyo on Monday and will be available in the UK from John Lewis March 2015.
